Napoli wins its first Serie A championship in 33 years. Thousands of Napoli football supporters cheered wildly as the team won
its first league championship in 33 years as they watched the club's historic Serie A victory on large screens at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Even before the game began, Napoli supporters thronged Naples' streets, lighting pyrotechnics and flares in the hopes of witnessing their team finally win the championship.
Napoli's performance on Thursday didn't go according to plan, but the team understood a point would be enough to win a storied championship.
It regained its momentum in the second half thanks to the visiting supporters, who generated an electrifying atmosphere inside the stadium.
When the referee blew the full-time whistle, Napoli supporters ran onto the field to celebrate, and players were surrounded in joyous scenes.
"Seeing Neapolitans happy is enough to give you a sense of that joy they are feeling," Napoli coach Spalletti said to DAZN after the win.
These folks have every right to celebrate this way because they will remember it when times are tough.
